Welcome to the new Brecon Pupil Referral Unit Website
Cychwyn Newydd offers a specialist provision for learners (both primary and secondary age) who have social or emotional difficulties. This is often referred to as 'BESD'.
Cychwyn Newydd accommodates learners in a provision for diagnosed mental health conditions and also diagnosed medical conditions which mean a learner cannot attend their mainstream school (Medically unfit).
Cychwyn Newydd will offer a broad and balanced curriculum to satisfy the individual needs of the pupils and also the current WAG performance measures for success.
Pupils from across Powys who are not attending school for a range of reasons will be supported by dedicated Education Other Than At School (EOTAS) specialist teachers. The teacher will be part of Cychwyn Newydd and will work closely with School Inclusion Service to support pupils to access appropriate education in a timely way through integration into the PRU education provision and then reintegrate back into their mainstream school.
The Behaviour and Wellbeing Outreach offered by Cychwyn Newydd will provide a Universal minimum training service to the mainstream schools of Powys and monitor and support their implementation of the minimum behaviour expectation.
