Welcome to the new Brecon Pupil Referral Unit Website
This section of Cychwyn Newydd is in place for the Key stage 4 pupils who remain at the PrU to complete their compulsory education. A full curriculum is provided allowing pupils to move on to their chosen destination for further education, employment and training.
The EOTAS provision would also provide opportunities for alternative learning provision and work placements to establish further pathways to employments for the non-academic which forms and essential and recognised pathway to an alternative accreditation alongside employability skills
Pupils who are identified at medially unfit to attend mainstream school are attached to a small group register of no kore than five pupils where they begin their education on a part time basis following a pastoral support plan (PSP). Their education is heavily supplemented with THRIVE approaches.
All medially unfit pupils will follow a base curriculum with additional subjects added as their time within Centre increases. The goal of the provision is to provide either, a managed provision with outcomes for these students in Key Stage 4, or if they belong to Key Stage 2 or 3 increase their time within educations leading to an eventual return to mainstream school.
The work for these pupils carried out by the staff of Cychwyn Newydd will work alongside the intervention and support provided by CAMHs. These pupils will, should they reintegrate then enter the outreach provision of support to enable complete reintegration.
Any referral to the medical provision would need to come from a recognised and suitably qualified medical professional
